Blood.

it's been so long
since the jagged thorns and ragged branches
surrounding my soul
have been blasted away by fire
passionate fire
it glows ochre, auburn, blue, violet
colours i cant even see
but can i stand the heat?
and for how long?
how long until the fire is snuffed and all i am left with
is my thorny, cruel, wicked, tormenting soul
that is bombarded by torrential rain?
illusions don't last forever
nothing does
and
i
sigh
and lay down
and close my gray-blue eyes
like a stormy sea on a cloudy day
and let my curls become saturated with sand
and let my body soak in the stellar heat
and let myself become calm
so i may prepare myself for the storm
that will wreak havoc on my bones
and in my chest
and my mind
that mind that has been moulded and shaped against its will
in my fragile heart
used to be that of a lion, now it's one of a rabbit
in my blood
oh! my red, red, ruby blood which i pride in having
will slowly evaporate
into
nothing
but
bright
gold
dust
